Bandits Baseball Club 'Summer Showdown' for 2010

The Bandits Baseball Club, Inc. will be hosting the Australian Southern Stars baseball team for a three game series over the weekend of August 13th and 14th, 2010. The three game series will be played at Grossmont College's Noel Mickelson Field. The series will commence with two games on Saturday the 14th, at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and end with a single game on Sunday the 15th ... at High Noon! The games are open and free to the public.

Prior to the series, both teams will attend a San Diego Padre game together on the afternoon of Thursday, August 12th at Petco Park in downtown San Diego.

An Australian Southern Stars spokesperson said that, "Our team  is a development team assembled with players from all over Australia [4 of their 6 states]... to provide our up and coming players an opportunity to obtain high level international experience."   In the weekend prior to coming to San Diego, August 6th-9th, the Australian Southern Stars "will play in a tri-series [which] will include the USA National Team and the Australian National Team.  The series is to help prepare both National teams for the Women's World Cup in Venezuela," to be played this August 12th through 22nd.
